Carsten Nathani worked as a research scientist at Environmental Physics. He extended the spectrum of the research group 'energy and climate' with economic issues. His research interests include

• economic modelling of the determinants of energy demand,
• energy and environmental input-output models,
• integration of top-down and bottom-up models,
• materials consumption as a driver of energy demand and material efficiency improvement as an option for reducing energy demand.
