Welcome to my homepage! From fall 2006 until spring 2007 I was a Postdoc with Niki Gruber. I am now at Caltech, working on tropical stalagmites as climate archives. My current research interests are listed below:

Research interests

- paleoceanography / paleoclimatology
- nitrogen isotopes and organic matter in sediments
- changes in the marine nitrogen cycle on glacial/interglacial timescales
- high-resolution climate reconstructions
- the role of low latitude processes during large-scale climatic shifts

In 2006 I finished my PhD at the Geological Institute of ETH Zurich with the thesis titled "Late Quaternary changes in nitrogen fixation and climate variability recorded by sediments from the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea": PhD_Meckler.pdf (6.1 MB)

In 2002 I obtained my degree in Geoecology (Environmental Sciences) at the University of Bayreuth. My diploma thesis at the Limnological Research Center of Eawag (Kastanienbaum) was on "Assessment of organic matter degradation in lake sediments": DA_Meckler.pdf (1.1 MB)
